All the talk about "Skyfall" taking so long to hit #1, thus meaning she doesn't have a strong fanbase or following

The moral of the story is that in most cases, you need more than a rabid fanbase to see consistent major success, even right out of the gate.

In the end, "Applause" will hit #1 anyway.
