and I realized that not even "Me against the music" was nearly as bad as "Applause" , "MATM" is actually a great pop tune, with those funky guitars , not to mention it has a great title song.

If I have to recognize something to Britney is that she has never disappointed with a first single musically, the first single is one of her biggest strengths in her career.

I would say since "Britney", "Overprotected" was also an amazing single, Britney is really solid with her second singles, but she is also really good with her first singles.

now that I've listened to "Applause" and knowing how Britney is with her first singles, I can say there's 90% of chances that Britney's next single will be better musically.

I can tell you something about Gaga's, which is going to be released very soon.
"Applause" is 3:34 long. It's a dance song and It starts with a dance beat. Kinda like HIAM does. It's a little messy imo. I was quite disappointed when I heard it. It would def fit on the Born This Way album. Her vocals are kind of "loud". It's the typical screaming voice she uses in some of her songs.

Applause is exactly the direction I DON'T want Britney to go in.

That type of dance music is going out of style and fast, it will slay in its first weeks just because of the hype.

And I agree with dinorel Overprotect is miles better than Slave.
