I wouldn't go THAT far. Even in the height of my Rock phase I still listened to way more Kelly than anything else.

Was into Green Day/Evanescence way back when, but I would not like 1D to go in that direction. I think the boys (when they go solo) will have a lot of genres to choose from, but Rock would never be friendly to ex-boyband members.

Hell, any collaboration with a relevant artist (sorry Sheeran) would be a nice change of pace. I think that is kind of what they need in their careers right now.

Eh. Lots of A-List artists are struggling nowadays. At least compared to their other eras.

Brit, Bey, Xtina, Ke$ha, No Doubt, etc could all benefit by tapping into the 1D fan base. (Not endorsing any of these, just throwing out names.) Sia would be a nice collab since she is a well known hit makes who is looking to launch her solo career in the US.

The best collaborations are between artists with differing sounds that work well together.

Little Mix is just a (floppier) female version of 1D.
