some girl tweeted me saying that after I asked why the radio station were played a leaked demo:
@SohanJudge: @badkidmnstr @ladygaga Cause everyone wants to hear it! Haha.
It's so weird to see people wanting to hear new Gaga music after all this time

If you're not part of a culture, don't take parts of it and use it for your work. It's not a good thing. That's the main problem with "burqa" being the title or her wearing a niqab and whatnot. I personally prefer the title "Burqa", but I see what's wrong with it.

See that's where people are wrong in my opinion.... People who wear burqas have migrated to the West, making them a part of our society and culture, even if the meaning is different to us, it has become a part of our lives, society, and culture and we can respond to it... It's not even a bad thing

I'm just saying, they obviously cut out the LQ highway part, so people must be responding positively otherwise they wouldn't let a handful of LMs bully them into playing it

Why does the intro sound so LQ compared to the rest? This may sound crazy but I think the intro was recorded from something playing the video (I know )

It's not part of her native culture, and she's only worn it twice. She's both sexualized it and appropriated it; that's wrong. It has a meaning to it, and I don't think anyone is in place to say it's okay to just wear a burqa casually unless they have been a part of the culture that originally uses it. It's not alright to just wear a garment that has a meaning and background to it unless you're actually a part of the culture & use the garment for its original meaning. It's just inappropriate.

But how is that wrong. Do you know how many things that your home country has probably appropriated? Think about it, almost every culture (with the technology to do so) does this in some way over time. I honestly believe that many people are just over sensitive and look for things to point at and say "OH That is wrong" I mean who are we to say what is really wrong and what is really right? If Gaga wants to wear a burqa half naked then that's what she will do. Gaga knows what a burqa is, not only that but I'm almost sure she could tell you what it means, and what it's used for. It seems like we will continue to disagree, but that's fine. I just don't see anything wrong with it.

It really is worth note that Gaga used the symbolism of the burqa properly. She noted that it is a woman's choice to hold her own beliefs and wear a burqa. She didn't just dance naked wearing only a burqa - she noted the purpose of it being used to veil oneself from the outside world and keep oneself solely for loved ones.

Without cultural diffusion and sharing ideas with people of different cultures, the world would never have progressed as far as it has. What about using chopsticks to eat food. People don't cry foul over that.

This isn't someone being "oversensitive" about it. Sooner or later, some Israeli woman is going to complain about it, and that's when you have to listen; people who are not a part of the culture where burqas/niqabs/hijabs, etc. are in use (I'm aware that people in the US & other places use them, I'm just saying, if you are not one of them...), then you can't say it's just okay to use them casually. They have a meaning and that should be respected.

Then she shouldn't use any foreign musical influences either... Hell she might even have to scrap some of the words she used? She has tattoos, she should get them removed? I mean, those weren't part of our culture once. People do to much on cultural appropriation... Burqas/niqabs etc have different meanings in different countries/regions/families etc, it's not as if it has one clear meaning... Religion isn't the same either... There are different kinds of Muslims, Christians etc, it's the meaning you yourself assign to something... The western world is free, Gaga has every right to do this kind of stuff and there's nothing wrong with it if you ask me

This is true, I guess. I just think she shouldn't be wearing it herself unless she's joining that culture for real, in a commitment. Otherwise, it's fine to speak of it, but she shouldn't wear it.

Merging cultures together in the "mixing pot" =/= taking a part of a culture and using it for style, fashion, or other casual use. Gaga was doing the latter.
Using chopsticks to eat traditional food (Chinese or Japanese; correct me if I'm wrong if it's both, one or the other, or includes other cultures) isn't appropriating it because it's using it in its proper use.

And while those meanings are important to those people. I still feel that they are being sensitive when they choose to complain about such things. Maybe it's because I was born in a country where being somewhat "free" is a privilege.. And because I'm not forced to wear this or that. But you know I just really don't see where the issue is. The U.S as a country has taken so much from other cultures that I just don't think it would be right to play the blame game.

The more I listen to this song, the more I realize the intro has nothing at all to do with the rest.
Probably just obvious setup to be the "Telephone" sequel, nothing more.

Are you Israeli? Are you a woman that wears a burqa or a niqab or a hijab? If you are not, I don't think you're in a place to give Gaga permission to wear it.
