Rihanna's outside the U.s sales:
MOTS: 900k
AGLM: 2.3 million
GGGB: 7.2 million
Rated R: 3 million
Loud: 4.3 million
Talk That Talk: 2.3 million
Unapologetic: 2.2 million (and is still selling well)
this guilt trip that you put me on
won't mess me up
I've done no wrong
any thoughts of you and me
have gone AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYAYAYAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
The "she has released more albums" excuse implies that the act of releasing an album weakens an artist's existing receipts. That is why the excuse does not make sense and Pepcé stays losing.
Trying to drag Beyonce nowadays is pretty stale because the only thing going on for her right now is the tour and you can't drag that because it's slaying so you'll end up talking about the same old things everyone has been talking about for the past 3 years and that's kinda boring.
Pepcé her career already dwarfed by Rihanna and Gaga. All these girls have bigger eras than Pepcé. And this table doesn't even take singles into account, an area where the difference between them and Pepcé is astronomical.
Pepcé stays a tier 3 niche artist, a non-releasing nostalgia act with weak ass receipts.
But Back to Black was released the same time as Back to Basics only it actually struck big and Amy had already released Frank three years before. The whole throwback blue-eyed soul trend that has primarily come from UK obviously has way more to do with Amy than Xtina. If anything, Legend X has usually been behind the curve, not ahead of it.
Good point. For some reason, I thought Back to Black was released in mid 07 which is why I said BTB did it first. Apparently, it is only a month apart from Back to Basics in 06. It would still be nice if she got some of the credit Amy did, but it is understandable since Amy had more impact (Adele).
