We now know that Katy Perry's immensely anticipated third album will be titled "Prism" and is hitting shelves on Oct. 22, thanks to a giant golden truck that was rumbling through Los Angeles on Monday (July 29). And while few details about the actual music on the "Teenage Dream" follow-up, its first single may have a particularly ferocious title.
According to Idolator, Perry's forthcoming single will be titled "Roar." The track was reportedly written by Lukasz "Dr. Luke" Gottwald, Max Martin and Bonnie McKee, who previously collaborated on Perry tracks like "Teenage Dream," "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" and "California Gurls."
Although a rep for Perry did not respond to a request for confirmation at press time, Dr. Luke sneakily posted on Twitter last week, "and the new song starts with an 'R' …." When a fan asked, "katy perry's song?" the good Doctor replied, "maybe ;-)"
Need more (speculative) evidence that "Roar" is a logical single title? As Idolator points out, Perry's two fragrances are named 'Meow' and 'Purr.' What better way to nudge Perry toward a more adult pop sound than to let her KatyCats hear her "roar"?
Perry -- who recently passed Lady Gaga to become the most followed female celebrity on Twitter -- scored five No. 1 hits on the Hot 100 with "Teenage Dream," tying Michael Jackson's record for the most chart-toppers from a single album. Before the October release of "Prism," Perry will head to Las Vegas in September to perform at the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival.
Lauren on the KPF edited it to remove the fake information, but only took away the 'Roar' paragraph and the Publicists information to protect her privacy. She's pretty good friends with Katy and knows what's what so I dunno. It is a brand new picture used in it.
Maybe something is planned for the Roar reveal and they don't want us to know about it yet? It does say "Surprise release" on the paragraph.
I'm okay with Roar as long as its not like "now KatyCats, let me hear you roar!" or something. Lol. I mean, a title like Roar has the potential to be an anthem or a cheesy mess. Lol. Lets hope it's an anthem.
