“Thrift Shop” tops the 5 million mark in digital sales this week. The song sold 5 million copies in 30 weeks. Just three songs in digital history have reached 5M faster: “Somebody That I Used To Know” by Gotye featuring Kimbra (23 weeks), Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” (24) and “We Are Young” by fun. featuring Janelle Monae (28).
...so it will definitely break the record, given that it continues to sell at least 300K for the next 4 weeks. Actually we can probably count this week as a 500K sales week, so it will only need to sell 700K after this week to break the record.

Yeah, otherwise Rolling In The Deep, Somebody That I Used To Know, Party Rock Anthem, and Call Me Maybe wouldn't have had such low "number of weeks" given that they only charted on the singles chart the year after they were available on iTunes.

I think Eminem has more chance at a Hot 100 #1 than Gaga and Katy tbh. He's such a massive force on streaming.
Also, Katy probably won't debut at her peak. She'll climb up the chart like Rihanna does with her singles, so we'll no doubt have to put up with all the monsters saying she's "flopping" in the first few weeks...
