A million is only going to come if "Applause" is a smash hit, the app counts, and the album is (as planned) on preorder for a full 84 days. Even then it remains to be seen whether it will happen.
Only individuals consumers purchasing the album count (and it can't be priced as low as that). Samsung tried a similar thing with Jay-Z's album (purchasing 1 million copies at full price) but none of those copies were counted.
Art pop: 250-370k unless she has some weird promo/discount

Why would ARTPOP sell that little if Born This Way sold over 600K actual copies, though?
Even if the hype/promo for ARTPOP isn't as huge as Born This Way's was, Gaga's stans are definitely gonna go pick it up right when it's released. She'll easily break 500K imo.

I was thinking of the singles thread when people were posting their predictions for it.
''ARTPOP'' already starts its 3 months of pre-order on August 19 and this is a very big advantage for its first week sales. I'm sure that 1M worldwide is on lock for ARTPOP because of those 3 months and the hyping behind it.
As opposed to that, Katy's album won't even get half the hype ARTPOP will have under its belt till it hits the market .
I don't see them getting really high numbers first week......Katy has no hype really outside atrl honestly.....and gaga has hype but its not like born this way. She's not really the biggest pop star on the planet right now. And e cause neither of hem have those dedicated buyers fan base like Taylor swift .....I don't think their going to slay that easy

I mean I bought born this way first week regular priced.....but idk I'm just iffy about these releases, I don't know if the general public aside from the Stans are that interested in gaga like they once were.....and I don't think anyone was expecting Katy back so soon so she has like no hype,her single must be epic.. Or her to really do well

Katy has gotten more popular and much bigger since Teenage Dream's debut, but not even Rihanna could pass the 500k mark with ''Unapologetic'' while she is much bigger worldwide than Katy, so I doubt Katy will open bigger than Rihanna.
