Her phrasing and delivery is impressive. Most artists would kill for it.

Indeed. That's another advantage of writing your own songs and composing unique melodies to them; you have free reign over everything! Not to mention the emotional attachment you have to them. Most artists don't have that luxury because they have teams of 6 write and compose for them.

Yeah you aren't controlled by the producers' choices when you compose and write your own song. When you are the one who writes the arrangement, the producer has to follow it so you get the necesary space to phrase the words the way you want (unlike the rest of the pop girls). Get that control Tay

And yup, I bashed the TOMG performance because of the shouty belts/yelling and trying to sing the song fiercely for no reason
And I don't get why sometimes she tries to belt falsetto notes too.

It doesn't even matter about THAT particular performance. EVERYTIME her live performances have anything vocally wrong, you attack her
And all I was saying is, she's never been a good singer, we know, it's been going on for 7 years now, why are we still talking about it
Didn't Scott say when she first came onto the scene that she was first and foremost a songwriter??
Obviously if we stood for powerhouse vocalist we would be stanning for Celine Dion.
The "shouty/belty" notes in the TOMG performance relayed the PERFECT amount of emotion. Kind of like The SSN ACM performance. She's always changes up her songs like that, and I personally love it.

Just because she's never been a good singer doesn't mean correct technique shouldn't be expected by someone who is singing as a profession.
If you don't care about her vocal performances then good for you, but people who do are entitled to express their disappointment if she doesn't deliver, you can't dictate to people what they can or cannot talk about.

I don't attack her everytime her performances have anything vocally wrong. If you feel like reading a few pages back, you'll find me praising her live Starlight and Never Grow Up performances without saying anything negative about them although they had flaws too. I only criticize her when she makes the same vocal mistake throughout the WHOLE performance, not when she has minor, short slips . And emotional or not, what happened in the TOMG perf. was yelling. I can't feel the emotion when someone is yelling in my headphones. Taylor's voice shines in the midrange. She should stick to it unless belting is required and her best performances are always mid-range dominated perfs imo.
And I never said I wanted her to become a powerhouse. That is not even possible, regardless of what vocal training she receives. I'm not delusional. I just want perfs. with a pleasant tone even if there are minor vocals slips now and then.

Sis, you despise that first TOMG performance as well? Everybody dragged me for that a few months ago when I complained about Her shouting belting.

On another note.
I'd love it if Taylor wrote with Tom Odell for her next album, he's really talented and she's a fan of him, they've hung out a bit too so it's a possibility.

WOAH!!
Who are you?? And can you see yourself out of MY conversation
I'm never telling people in here what they can or can't do, and I never get mad at anybody for expressing their opinions either. In fact, ive stated multiple times that I love how our fanbase isn't delusional like others, but when you are CONSTANTLY attacking the person ( who you stan for btw) musical abilities over and over again I'm gonna say something, and if you want to say something to that, im gonna say something back. It's called conversation.

I'm not attacking my fave's musical abilities, I'm criticizing one of them. Attacking her singing is saying that she can't sing at all and has absolutely no hope for improvement.

Anyways I do think Taylor can sing, I do like the sound and tone of her voice and having seen her live 3 times she can sing live. Is she an awesome vocalist? No. Is she 100% perfect sounding live? No, but having seen Carrie Underwood live, even she isn't 100% perfect live.
Taylor has a sweet, smokey tone. Her voice is pretty thin, especially on high notes, but overall it sounds pretty good for the songs she sings
