Though imo unless the lead is really really huge, I think we're probably looking at 500-600k (maybe more with the app). Of course it's not scientific at all, but I was fooling around with Google trends earlier and I realized how crazy the hype for BTW really was Gaga will have to work hard to recreate that, if she (pshh more like we, lol) wants 1m again.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I wouldn't be surprised if Gaga's team, Apple and Billboard were all in talks to determine how album apps would work.
From Billboards POV, as long as the app contains the album in some form and costs above the minimum...I don't see how they could object.
I wouldn't underestimate Gaga and Interscope's ability to raise the hype. They learnt what worked and what didn't with BTW, so if anything I'd expect even more efficient promo. They'll have also learnt from Taylor and JT's opening strategy. With a huge lead single, major comeback performance, months to promote the album and pre-order, a second single (probably) alongside the release and the app...they'd be in good shape.
Whilst BTW had insane hype and exposure, IIRC the bulk of debut sales happened on the first day...which would imply fan support over casual. If she can convince the same fans (and more) that ARTPOP is as good and better, she'll be laughing. Promo will take care of the rest.
