Ciara she in the same predicament as Brandy - a minor comeback single with very poor sales. These R&B girls of the past need to hang it up flat screen.
**** being 'somewhat relevant'. You need success. Consistent success.
It's sad because some of these girls are putting out great material, but their community and the mainstream aren't supporting. No wonder why girls sell-out for change.

fff Body Party is kinda the We Belong Together to Brandy's Put It Down though.
R&B as a whole is just so boring. All the women want to either sound like Beyonce or Mary J Blige and the men are all R. Kelly clones that want to dance like MJ.
Like, the R&B male has pretty much became a stereotype. He has to have washboard abs, be shirtless ninety seven percent of the time, be a "ladies man", he has to know how to dance, and he usually is seen in shades and a leather jacket being suave and charming at all times. It's so ****ing boring.

Yeah, we need a 'hip' sub-genre to revive it. Say what you want about these sub-genres, but Neo-Soul and New Jack Swing were definitive times for the genre. Surely, there is something out there that could give it some life. Some artists are trying.

There needs to be a more urban radio friendly version of the electro indie R&B The Weeknd, James Blake, and Frank are pushing. Miguel is kind of it but he's still too typical R&B for my tastes.
Or urban radio needs to start spinning stuff that's a bit more experimental.

Neo-soul was probably the best sub genre to emerge from R&B. The focus on live instruments and varied subject matter >>> the **** infiltrating urban radio rn.
