Cory Monteith's body was cremated Tuesday in Vancouver following a private viewing with his family and girlfriend Lea Michele, TMZ has learned -- but Cory's father wasn't invited ... and he's heartbroken.
Cory's dad Joe Monteith -- who is divorced from Cory's mom Ann -- tells TMZ ... he was informed of the cremation after the fact, adding he's "totally devastated" he didn't get a chance to see Cory's body.
We're told Cory's body was released yesterday to his mom, and she decided to hold a viewing at the hospital with Lea and Cory's brother Shaun. Following the viewing, we're told Cory's mom decided to have him cremated.
Cory's dad tells us, "I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very very much. I'm saddened at the fact that I couldn't have been there to see my son before he was cremated."
As for Cory's alleged heroin use ... his dad says he's "shocked."

My thoughts? If we hear new rumors about Cory's lifestyle coming from a '' source close to the family'' , we already know who that will be
This just gives me chills. I don't know if I'm reacting wrongly to this, but it seems really off to have him cremeated so soon and only in the presence of his mom, brother, and Lea. I guess maybe those were the people closest to him, but I'm sure his friends would have liked to seen him one last time to pay their respects and to have some closure too with this. At least his dad should have been invited to this.
Maybe it would have been more traumatic to those three if a more traditional service had taken place, but I don't know.
The dad seems like a phony. How could he not know about his son's drug use? I feel bad for him tho. They could have at least let him see his sons body before it was cremated. He is his dad after all.

I'm sorry but this made me laugh.
This man never gave an f about his son, he divorced his mother on 1989 and ever since then he barely had anything to do with his son's education
I can see why his mother decided not to invite him, since he wasn't that close to his father. But he still was his father and I think that seeing his son's dead body for the last goodbye wouldn't have harmed anybody.
It doesn't matter what he did, it is his father and his father brought Cory into this world with his mom. He doesn't deserve to be singled out from seeing his son
This makes it all feel so much more real. It's so impossibly horrible that awful people completely devoid of any redeemable qualities whatsoever can roam the earth for years and years and years, but someone who was so WONDERFUL can die so young.
Anyway, I'm sure there will be a memorial service or something in the near future for everyone who wasn't invited to this. I see nothing wrong with his mom opting to keep the cremation a small and private affair.
