ATRL's H O L Y T R I N I T Y Round Four: The Entries

GOLDFRAPP
One of my favorite songs of all time comes from electronic duo, Goldfrapp. Lovely Head was the debut single for the duo and is a haunting masterpiece with a mysterious whistling that resonates throughout the entire song. The song's lyrics are quite mysterious but there seems to be a conflict, most likely an affair and the sinking feeling one gets when cheated on. "It starts in my belly" - the nauseous feeling one experiences after finding out, "then up to my heart" - the broken heart, "into my mouth, I can't keep it shut" - whether it's audible crying or letting out your hurt. Then again, I could be reading too much into it and it's probably just an oral sex anthem. Either way, I think it's the mystery that appeals to me the most.
I can't decide what's the oddest part accompanying this song. Is it the instrumental? The lyrics? The vocals? The single artwork? The music video? A song questioning whether Elvis Presley is still alive, it is a commentary on the pressures of fame and wealth and even sung in a slight slur as Elvis did. While most people prefer Kate's more notable hits, I consider this to be one of the gems that deserves more recognition.
I remember when I first listened to this song while I was going through my teen angst phase. Even after all these years, this was one of the few songs that remained in my iTunes library and I occasionally listen to it because it's not only creepy, but oddly entertaining. Performed by cello rock band Rasputina, Gingerbread Coffin is a dramatic piece about some weird voodoo ritual pertaining a doll that they are trying to bring to life.
This trinity was extremely difficult for me. I typically don't listen to artists that are described as "odd", so I decided to pick songs that have always struck me as a little strange. The three songs that I picked, from the moment that I first heard them, have seemed a little different. Whether they're strange because of a song that they sample, or sonically they're a step in a different direction for the artist. So here's the three that I chose, after much and much deliberation.
Wind It Up- Gwen Stefani
Perhaps the really unusual thing about this song, which really does drip(drip) with innovation and originality, is its composition. It consists of six parts: a dream-like introduction, a ballad section, a guitar solo, an operatic passage, a touch of aggressive hard rock, and, finally, an explosive finale. A somewhat confusing plot and an abundance of emotions also help to make this track one of the most original, and out of left field, of all time. What other songs go through such abrupt changes with half as much ease as this "mock opera" (so dubbed by Freddie Mercury himself). It's no surprise to me that it has become one of the most revered in the entire history of music.
d. ROBYN - WE DANCE TO THE BEAT
Robyn is one of the most versatile and exciting pop stars working today. Fact. Her music is stylish, original, cutting edge, criminally catchy, and infectiously fun. She deserves a spot in my "odd" trinity because, like many of history's most remarkable, she is not afraid to be odd. Here's a pop star who is willing to transmit her own frequency and to do her own thing regardless of whether America will "get" it or not, always. And for that, I salute her.
d. NO DOUBT - A LITTLE SOMETHING REFRESHING
Before she acquired enough star power to dwarf our own sun, lucrative fashion lines, a seriously babely husband, the cutest kids in Hollywood, the key to vibrant health, sole ownership of the fountain of youth, and pretty much anything else one's heart may desire, Gwen Stefani was an Orange County girl... who really just wanted a good meal. This song sees her wailing about food cravings to ska punk rhythms and New Wave production. Seriously. Fortunately for our future legend, the marshmallows, pies, chips, pizza, cottage cheese, broccoli, and cherries dipped in chocolate (to name but a few of the tasty morsels mentioned throughout) really hit the spot, and we say goodbye to Gwen "full at last."

Oddness is the inability to conform to a certain "normal" standard. Normalcy, however, is a standard created and perceived by society. The common definition of normalcy, and thus, the common definition of oddness, is a societal perception of an abstract idea. The most common manifestation of this idea is the pressure that society places on each and every one of us to be a cookie cutter replica of one another. Where I live, anything outside this normal standard is "odd" or "weird". It's difficult to be yourself because everyone has preconceived notions of how people should act. For me, oddness is defined by the people around you and their inability to accept your "true colors". It can lead to built-up emotions and a feeling of desperate loneliness.
Since emotions are viewed as "weird", talking about them has been deemed odd and taboo. These three songs deal with the social taboos and the "odd label" granted to things associated with emotions, imperfection, and an inability to conform to society's definition of normalcy. This trinity represents a journey through the cycle of one's emotional state that is judged as odd by conventional social standards. Zedd's "Hourglass" describes an individual who feels like an "outline made of skin" while the rest of the world is silent and uncaring. Lykke Li's "Silent My Song" describes how this silent judgement pervades into the silencing of one's own ideas and emotions. Lastly, Florence + The Machine's "Girl With One Eye" showcases the punishment and exclusion from society experienced when one has been deemed unable to fit society's "normal" standards. The story these songs tell combined with their unconventional sound and production truly represent the word "odd".
Everybody...has a secret. Some secrets are more innocent than others. They may be surprising, or just plain obvious, but a secret regardless. A lot of people love hearing secrets - it's a natural part of being human. However, there are some secrets that...should stay secret.
I go by the name Michael. It's what everyone knows me as. My mother gave me that name at birth. It's essentially my identifier. I like the name, don't get me wrong...it just feels odd knowing I am not going by my "true" name.
Everyone has an "identifier" name, and a "true" name. Most people go their whole lives without knowing their "true" name, and they should thank their lucky stars. A whole new world opens up when you know your "true" name.
My true name is Hugamari. I found this out a few years ago. You could say it was a..."revelation". I was visited in my sleep by someone...someone we, who know our true name, affectionately refer to...simply as "Sir."
Sir has a different connotation to those who are aware of "true" names than what "identifiers" (this is what we call people who don't know their true names) know the word Sir to be.
As I was saying, Sir visited me in my dream. He told me he selected me to be a part of his legion. I had no choice but to say yes. If Sir visited you, you would understand exactly where I was coming from. After I agreed, he gave me my true name...Hugamari.
You are probably asking yourself right now, "What legion?" Just typical of an identifier. Always wanting to know secrets. Don't worry, though; I will give you a description...using words you'd understand.
The legion has ranks. At the top, obviously, is Sir. He always has, and always will be, at the top. What we in the legion strive for is the second highest rank. That title is roughly translated to "He who serves his master". Mind you this is very rough, and uses words you'd understand. It is not a literal translation.
To get to the "second rank", you must do whatever Sir requires of you. If he commands you to, say, cannibalistic-ally eat someone who you considered a "friend" in your identifier days...it is in your best interest to do it. Sir can do things the justice systems of the "identifier" world can not. These things can help, or hinder, you, depending on which side of Sir you put yourself on.
I guess you want to know what rank I am on...I am on the second lowest rank. I bet it would drive you crazy not to know what I did to get up a rank, keeping you wide awake at night. Well...that's an easy question to answer. Sir instructed me to come talk to you. Why am I telling you all of this? He wants to talk to you next. He will be visiting you shortly. Have a blessed day.

❇''Where The Wild Roses Grow" - Kylie Minogue & Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds ❇
This song is particularly odd because of the story it tells. Minogue plays the role of Elisa Day. The chorus of the song suggests either that she's come to be known as the "Wild Rose" rather than as Elisa Day by people who recall her murder or that her body has never been found, and her ghost lingers at the place of the murder, but people, seeing only the roses, talk about them, when Elisa Day believes they talk to, or about, her (e.g., "They call me the Wild Rose; but my name was Elisa Day; why they call me it, I do not know; for my name was Elisa Day"). Cave is so entranced by Elisa's beauty and hates the idea of its fading, so he kills her in order to preserve the memory of her beauty forever.
You rarely find a song that tells a story as unusual and enticing as this one, especially when accompanied with such a well-done music video that really represents the song's story perfectly.
Lyrics
They call me The Wild Rose
But my name is Elisa Day
Why they call me it I do not know
For my name is Elisa Day
From the first day I saw her I knew she was the one
As she stared in my eyes and smiled
For her lips were the colour of the roses
That grew down the river, all bloody and wild
When he knocked on my door and entered the room
My trembling subsided in his sure embrace
He would be my first man, and with a careful hand
He wiped at the tears that ran down my face
[Chorus]
On the second day I brought her a flower
She was more beautiful than any woman I'd seen
I said, "Do you know where the wild roses grow
So sweet and scarlet and free?"
On the second day he came with a single red rose
He said: "Will you give me your loss and your sorrow?"
I nodded my head, as I lay on the bed
"If I show you the roses will you follow?"
[Chorus]
On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he knelt above me with a rock in his fist
On the last day I took her where the wild roses grow
And she lay on the bank, the wind light as a thief
As I kissed her goodbye, I said, "All beauty must die"
And lent down and planted a rose between her teeth
❇''Cyber-Raga'' - Madonna.❇
I don't think I've heard a song quite as odd as Cyber-Raga. It's both sonically and linguistically unusual and uncommon, especially for someone who was as mainstream as Madonna was in 2000, when this track was released on her eighth studio album, Music. The Talvin Singh-produced song incorporates elements of trance, trip-hop, and electronica and features Sanskrit, which is a historical Indo-Aryan language that Madonna became familiar with as a result of her professing of Kabbalah.
The song tells Madonna's desire to end world hunger. A quote from her embodies the message of the track: "The first casualty of hunger is hope. And the most subversive act you can perform is on behalf of someone's sense of hope. It's shameful how little it really takes to help, and how easily we are all discouraged from doing so." Not every day you hear a song about world hunger in Sanksrit!

❇''Birds of Prey'' - Christina Aguilera. ❇
This song is odd for may reasons. First of all, the vocal delivery of the song is intriguing because it comes off as distant and cold but, at the same time, still haunting and capable of elevating the quality of the track. In a sense, it alludes to the fact that Christina herself could be a bird of prey or a victim of a bird of prey. That's another interesting topic! What is a bird of prey? There are countless interpretations. Birds of prey could be a metaphor that represents the media or the paparazzi, or people who want to take advantage of someone, or society as a whole. But it's easy to see that it represents anything or anyone that preys [both literally and metaphorically] on something. A truly stunning [but also very unsual] track!
Lyrics
Suddenly lost inside a fantasy
Everything not quite what it seems to be
Slipping and falling through the looking glass
Catching a glimpse at all that lies behind the masks
You disappear with the dawn
You only see what you want
When you are out with the birds of prey
When you are out with the birds of prey
They watch and they feed, they take what they need
They bite as you bleed, the birds of prey
Taking the blue pill only made you cry
And all that the red pill did was make you forget why
There is no right, there's no wrong
You only see what you want
When you are out with the birds of prey
They watch and they feed, they take what they need
They bite as you bleed, the birds of prey
They watch and they feed, they take what they need
They bite as you bleed, the birds of prey
They watch and they feed, they take what they need
They bite as you bleed, the birds of prey
They watch and they feed, they take what they need
They bite as you bleed, the birds of prey
You disappear with the dawn
You only see what you want
There is no right, there's no wrong
You only see what you want
When you are out with the birds of prey (X4)

▼ I Fink U Freeky - Die Antwoord ▼ Die Antwoord are a South-African rap-rave band. I find their style be infectious, weird and maybe a little creepy if i'm being honest. They seem to go against the norm and promote counter-culture values with shock norm tactics. I remember being stunned when I first watched one of their videos, it was so different to anything out in the industry at the time, yet the music was infectiously odd. They are definitely a polarizing band, people either love their style or think they are a joke, but that's the beauty of being odd.
▼ Hyperballad - Björk ▼ Speaking of the beauty of being odd, now we move on to Björk. No list would be considered odd without her. She is one of the most innovative artists around and she is never afraid to push boundaries. I chose this song because I have already shown the fun side of being odd now I wanted to showcase the beauty. There is something so touching and hauntingly gorgeous about this song, not only is it pleasing to the ear but it's unusual, I think it's the perfect example of how being different is a good thing, her vocals are in a world of their own she is truly in her own lane with songs like this.
▼ Cloud Aura - Charli XCX ▼ I selected this song because I wanted to showcase a modern shift toward the odd in music at the moment. This song and similar stuff ie Banks, Brooke, MIA are at the fore-front of our changing music industry. It's loud, in your face and catchy, maybe a little ratchet too in a good way. I think that music is the most diverse it has ever been right now and being different and creating your own unique style is the way forward. This song sounds like a futuristic, ghetto pop song, I love it.

Translation
I worship the gurus' lotus feet
Awakening the happiness of the self revealed
Beyond comparison, working like the jungle physician
To pacify loss of consciousness from the poison of existence
In the form of a man up to the shoulders
Holding a conch, discus and sword
Thousand headed, white
I bow respectfully

Madonna's Shanti/Ashtangi is the first song I selected for my Odd Trinity. The song is a Hindu prayer Throughout the song, Madonna chants and sings in the ancient language, Sanskrit, with a bit of a mystic-esque tone. I believe this is one of her most unique tracks, though most Madonna fans don't seem to like it. I find it really nice of her to give a nod to Eastern religion.
The Dreaming
Quote:
The Dreaming Lyrics
'Bang!' goes another kanga
On the bonnet of the van.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
Many an Aborigine's mistaken for a tree
'Til you near him on the motorway
And the tree begin to breathe.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
("Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha")
Coming in with the golden light
In the morning.
Coming in with the golden light
Is the New Man.
Coming in with the golden light
Is my dented van.
The civilised keep alive
The territorial war.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
Erase the race that claim the place
And say we dig for ore,
Or dangle devils in a bottle
And push them from the Pull of the Bush.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
You find them in the road.
"See the light bounce off the rocks to the sand."
In the road.
Coming in with the golden light
In the morning.
Coming in with the golden light
With no warning.
Coming in with the golden light
We bring in the rigging.
Dig, dig, dig, dig away.
Ma-ma-many an Aborigine's mistaken for a tree
("La, la, oo-ooh!")
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
You near him on the motorway
And the tree begin to breathe.
Erase the race that claim the place
And say we dig for ore.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
Dangle devils in a bottle
And push them from the Pull of the Bush.
"See the sun set in the hand of the man."
"Bang!" goes another kanga
On the bonnet of the van.
"See the light bounce off the rocks to the sand."
You find them in the road.
"See the light ram through the gaps in the land."
In the road.
"See the light."
("Push 'em from the")
Pull of the Bush.
"See the light bounce off the rocks to the sand."
("Push 'em from the")
Pull of the Bush.
"See the sun set in the hand of the man."
("Oh, re mikayina!")
The second song I selected for my trinity was The Dreaming by Kate Bush. This song is about how the white Australians invaded and destroyed the homes of the Aboriginal people. Some people have also claimed that the song is related to the Dreamtime legends from the Aboriginal people. The song could be considered strange by some people, but it's also experimental.
Where is the Line?
Quote:
Where is the Line? Lyrics
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
My purse wide open
You ask again
I see you trying to
Cash into accounts
Everywhere
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
I want to be flexible
I want
To go out
Of my way for you
But enough is enough
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
I am elastic
I want to go out of my way for you
I want to help you
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
I want to have capacity for you
And be elastic, elastic, to be elastic for you
Where is the line with you ?
I'm elastic for you
But enough is enough
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
Where is the line with you?
The final song that i chose for my trinity was Where Is The Line by Bjork. The song is about someone who goes out of their way for someone, but are fed up with it. It's implied that the person Bjork is singing about is greedy and unreliable ("My purse wide open, you ask again. I see you trying to cash into accounts everywhere.")
She's done a lot of things for this person, but she's done with it ("I'm elastic for you, but enough is enough.")
With the mix of beatboxing and an eerie chorus, matched with a disturbing music video, the song is definitely unusual.
JadGhamloush96
Sometimes in life, the same old known vibe gets old and something new, something fresh, something eerie is needed. A sound that stands out from the rest and fills you up with originality. Songs like this that are easy on the ear but stand out from the rest of your playlist and
ODD SONG No. 1 Only You by ELLIE GOULDING
Baby, I'm On My Knees
The Halcyon album as a whole is a great album filled with unique and original sounds but Only You really shines from the tracklist. With lyrics like "Only you can be the aching in my heart, My enemy, the only animal I couldn't fight" and the production really makes the song have it's own vibe. Especially when that breakdown with the child-like vocals come on, absolute heaven
ODD SONG No. 2 Bring the Noize by M.I.A.
Freedom's Just Another Word
Electronic music, if used & produced right, can create sounds that can be original and make you move at the same time. M.I.A. is one of those artists that does this and Bring The Noize is no different. The claps and african beats and M.I.A.'s ability to ride the electro-jungle beat just makes it even more original and just as dance-y. You just can help but move your feet to that breakdown! I dare you not to!
ODD SONG No. 3 Madness by MUSE
Our Love Is...
I end my trinity with a song that I feel captures the essense of "odd". Muse is known for their eerie rock vibe and they are a band that is not afraid to experiment. Madness is a an electro-experimental love song that talks about how crazy love can become. As Matthew croons lyrics like "And now I need to know is this real love, or is it just madness keeping us afloat?" over that electro drum beat, the song just screams experimental darkness. It literally captures you to the very end of the song and that doesn't happen with any song.
Pretty Lady
Pretty Lady's ODD trinity
Believe - Cher
What would later be known as the "Cher Effect" was the vast amount of an unknown software known as Auto-Tune on Cher's vocals on the track "Believe". Believe was the first song to use such a software on vocals and what later pay off for her as the biggest-selling single of her career. At first her label wanted it removed from the track, but Cher refused. What was then unheard of, now is so common.
Born This Way - Lady Gaga
Born This Way is an acceptance song for all kinds of different people. The meaning of the song being you were "born this way". Gaga sings "No matter gay, straight, or bi, Lesbian, transgendered life, I'm on the right track baby, I was born to survive." The song brings up the highly debated issue of homosexuality and if you really were born that way. Gaga makes it very clear at the end of the song "same DNA but born this way".
Glory (B.I.C) - Jay-Z
Glory is a song Jay-Z wrote for his daughter Blue Ivy and dedicated it to her. Jay raps about how wonderful the feeling is to be a father, and how grateful he is to have his new daughter. The song features a sample of baby Blue crying. After the song was released, Blue Ivy Carter became the youngest artist to chart on the billboard chart ever.
This challenge includes YOU, the judge, in the storyline. (That's you, where you is specified. Couldn't put actual names because we have 3 different judges )
After the "after party" comes the private party between Monte and You. It's in your house in the living room 2 am.
Monte: I feel special tonight y'a know. Like I feel fresh and released
You: What the hell are you talking about?
Monte: I performed an Act of Contrition. At the party before I did some pretty unspeakable things...I just needed to feel clean.
You: *a bit scared* Uhm I don't want to know what exactly you did, but it had nothing to do with the rape of the poor girl right? Tell me that I'm just thinking of thins
Monte: Oh yes that's just you, why would anyone do such a thing!
You: Finally I can breathe a sigh of relief that we got away though, the police were all over there.
Monte: I know what you did as well. There's no way to pay Him back besides atoning for your wrongs. I can help you undo it all
You: YOU saw me?! *hangs head in shame* I am just so sorry. I didn't want to cause any trouble.
Monte: It's quite all right because I know how to heal you. Pass me your stereo
You walk to your room to bring down the stereo down and is bewildered on the sight when you return
You: What....what is all of this? Why do we need candles?
Monte: No reason you need to worry about. This is how my Ancestors would repay Him back for the things they did wrong. Now hold still...
As the music slowly fills the room, Monte moves closer to you and lightly bites the nape of your neck
You: ...Ah. This kinda hurts, what are you doing?!
Not listening to your pleas, Monte bites harder and chomps down on it. He slurps his toungue all over now
You: ENOUGH! This is all so scary and I don't see how any of this would help at all.
Monte: *in a very deep voice* I am not finished. If I am not allowed to finish then something will happen and you WILL regret it. Now get on the bed
Monte grabs You by the hands and drags you upstairs to your room. He ties them tight to the bed.
Monte: Strip. Now. Or I will destroy you
You: Monte stop this all now! I am scared.
Monte: Have it your way I'll just do it then.
Monte proceeds to strip You and you're finished being tied to the bed, only left in your under garments
Monte: Oh I need a knife, I'll be back in a few
Sensing this is your only time to escape you somehow slip one hand out of the rope you were tied with, grabs a secret box cutter you keep under your bed and free yourself. Monte returns
Not wanting to wake up neighbors 2:30 am, Monte quickly goes to the front door.
Monte: Oh I left my belongings let me just get them...
A few hours later at 6am. Monte walks out of your house with an umbrella and sees some neighbors standing in front of the door when he begins to walk out of your house
Neighbor and Wife: Oh hello. We heard a few strange things early in the morning and we just came over to make sure everything is okay. Are you alright?
Monte: Oh yes I am fine thank you.
Monte proceeds to open the umbrella to walk away
Wife: Wait a minute. It's not raining outside
Monte: Hmm? *Looks up at blue skies* Oh yes you're right it's not raining.
Wife: Well why are you using an umbrella?
Monte: What?
Wife: Well most people only use umbrellas when it rains outside
Monte: Really?! I'll try that next time.
Monte walks away with the umbrella still open
Neighbor: He is one strange fellow but I know for sure he doesn't live here. What happened to the owner of this house?
Wife: Maybe he's inside
The Wife walks inside the open front door and when she looks around, she runs out of the house instantly.
Wife: JEFFREY (the husband/neighbor) CALL THE POLICE NOW!
Jeffrey: Why?
Wife: JUST DO IT AND DON'T LET THAT STRANGER ESCAPE
To Be Continued
borntodie
borntodie's "ODD" trinity
Peach, Plum, Pear by Joanna Newsom
Joanna is generally known for being more of an 'odd' artist but this song strikes me as particularly strange. The way
her voice sounds because of her high singing and the addition of a children's choir is slightly creepy
and makes you feel haunted despite the sweet melody.
Time To Pretend by MGMT
I think this song tends to give you a big WTF moment when you hear it for the first time; you don't really know what's going on,
it's so overwhelming with the hyperactive synths that contrast the mildly depressing lyrics and on top of that you also get a bunch of weird noises. It's like a mixture of a weird dream and an acid trip, especially when you watch the video.
Revolution 9 by The Beatles
This is perhaps the oddest 'song' I've ever heard in my entire life. Our music teacher in high school showed it to us once and it
scared the hell out of me. It's confusing, intimidating and straight out weird, especially considering that it was written by
The Beatles, who are known for their easily accessible tunes.

My Odd Trinity
1. Bjork - Oceania
We were finally together...
This song is about nature, about continents, waters and all the things uniting together and "loving" each other. As we know, Bjork was highly inspired by nature. I think that it's a very interesting way to see things like this in the perspective of nature and everything. Bjork is an artist in every single possible way.
2. Awolnation - Sail
...but we couldn't love each other because I had a strong disease...
This song is about not being able to fall in love due to ADD, because you know that your partner would suffer due to that. It features a very contemporary sound and the vocals are just going on amazing with the melody.
3. Micachu and the Shapes - Turn Me Well
...but I missed her so much that I had to meet her again, but I couldn't.
This song is about missing your lover/friend. What I like about this song and what I find odd is that they used different "instruments" like vaccums to create the sound. In my opinion, it's an amazing song with creativity all around it.
Nait Phoenix
How odd can you get? I'll show you it can go from odd artists to odd beats to odd lyrics...
Björk - "Hunter"
Certainly the strangest song and video combination; it just burns a image in your mind forever! There's little way to follow the beat, the lyrics almost have little meaning to those who don't understand, and it's by far the most out-there topic to talk about. She's literally talking about hunting... who knew? It certainly paints a picture.
Róisín Murphy - "Night of the Dancing Flame"
Such an weird sounding song from first listen, but it's compelling, ain't it?! I mean, first listen, I just felt like ticking, waltzing, grooving, and prancing all at the same time: how the hell does ONE SONG do that to a person? It's such a fun song to listen to and to dance to, even though it's really a song to *ahem* to, according to the lyrics...
Purity Ring - "Belispeak"
Um, is this song what I think it is, or is it just my imagination? We just went through the sad phase and here I am bringing up a song about a birthing mother dying... I think... Truly, you can interpret the song however you want, the lyrics are haunting. Yet, the beat is oddly fierce and "wit da sickness there"... How they come together, your guess is as good as mine. I just know when I heard this song, I was compelled in more ways than one...
Nice work this round. Lots of Bjork (), kind of expected more M.I.A. and Gaga, truthfully.
Results should come sometime tomorrow - stay tuned!
PS: Killer Queen's entry will be posted once he sends it over to us
But thank God no one else used Birds of Prey. It was a pretty popular song among fans of Bionic so I thought someone else would use it and I would be left in the dust per usual.
Ooooh, it's interesting to see how everyone played this challenge. Some blatantly odd choices and some unconventional ones! I'm so glad I didn't choose Bachelorette by Björk though, there's enough Björk to go around.

e437 and huga, he's waiting for Killer Queen's trinity and I don't think we'll have results until tomorrow when Katie is back.

I was SO close to using Birds of Prey. It's an amazing song! Great choice!
Everyone really went for it with formatting this round
There are some great choices in here and some that I truly don't understand. why is Born This Way on here LGBT rights isn't an odd thing it's been done many times before Gaga, it's claimed to be a copy of a Madonna song so it's not original sounding and it sounds like any other basic pop song.. I don't get why it's odd?
I can't tell who's gonna win the competition is so tough

Gaga was the only mainstream artist to mention homosexuals in a song at that time.

But it's been done way before Gaga so I don't see how it constitutes as odd, mentioning homosexuals in 2010 isn't an odd thing to do Sorry I'm not trying to pick on your entry or anything I like your other choices, the explanation just confused me

Where? In what song does it specifically say it? Not to mention the fact that a song mentioning gays and that they were born that way went #1. It's such a controversial topic and it performed so well, I would call that odd wouldn't you?

I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one
I guess that's the beauty of this game though, seeing everyone's different opinions and tastes.
