It's bittersweet that PLU has flopped. Now I hate the song, it's beyound awful. I hope the failure of that song will affect Kelly's future albums in a good way.
I really don't understand how one goes from loving a song to hating it once it flopped (I'm not talking about you LOP, I'm talking about lots of stans in general).
I abhor the song, but I don't think the song is done. Those that are jumping off the wagon now predicted the song would be an instant smash.
On the bright side, if it does flop I hope it gives Kelly a good lesson on being complacent and lazy by choosing such a basic song written by a 10 yr old girl.
I can see why people end up hating a song that flops. Has all the momentum then stalls to failure. For example, MKIA did fairly well, WDKY smashed obviously. Darkside just flopped, CMB had US impact.
I lose interest in the song when the label/kelly/her management fail to capitalize on the right moments. Most recent memory of this would be when CMB was picking up steam in the UK... then she goes over to the UK with flop ass promo bookings and sings breakaway on a huge prime time show. Artists know these days it is extremely hard to sell their single without a great video/ some sort of decent promotion/hype or radio support. I dunno, I lose faith having watched DS & CMB crash and burn. Its the same cycle after so long, gets so far but never delivers.. or always takes a thousand years to take off. If she's happy to release music to have it not reach its potential then so be it. Its just slightly disheartening for the fans that try to support & get word out. And yes, it does seem tedious that some fans are always negative about it but there's only so many songs and flops/medicore performances that I want to see when I know the artist at hand is capable of so much more. And I think thats what kills me the most, not just PLU but in general.
(dont come at me all now, I've been a fan long enough to know KC isn't that type of artist but sometimes I like to look at a realistic perspective from a non-fan point of view)
I pray for the day she is done with Greg Kurstin. He is mainly P!nk's producer anyways. I want her to work with The Dream. I think there is a way to manipulate her sound for a solid R&B/urban track. Too bad she'd rather be singing Tennessee Waltz.
I still like People Like Us, it's still a fun song to listen to. It was never one of my favorites, nor will it ever be. But, I don't really understand hating a song because it flopped. One of my favorite songs of Kelly didn't even chart on the Hot 100, it just makes me appreciate it more because it feels like a hidden gem of her discography (Sober).
I don't know if anyone has post this. But Kelly already surpass Carrie Underwood's fan page likes! So now she's officially the most popular idol on Facebook.
