Well, in the books Ygritte doesn't, she even shoots an arrow at him because of anger and Jon gets hit in the leg. Jon did what he needed to do, there is no place for Ygritte at the wall and what Jon Snow has is honor like his father, he wouldn't give that up for a woman. Although he DOES love her.

In the books, that son is a retard that only entertains with foolishness, so it was pretty pointless, too. Catelyn's thought process is just pure desperation, she's watching everyone she loves get butchered.

I kind of wish there had been a scene of Robb and his men, though. Getting to know the Umbers, the Manderlys, and Queen Dacey Mormont all added that much more of a punch. They were always afraid to offend the Freys. That' why they also kept Grey Wind in a cage, to not upset the Boltons. In the books, when they arrive, Grey Wind is growling at everyone, so Lord Frey ask for the direwolf to be removed, and they agreed because they didn't want to offend him. They were pretty much kissing ass for forgiveness. Also, in the books, everyone in the Stark side is drinking, and the Frey's and Boltons aren't, that's why they also couldn't defend themselves properly. The northernmen were drunk as ****.
