With madonna its about the attendance number, not just ticket gross imo. Some people say she charges more and therefore gets the highest tour gross but the attendance from her first few tours alone are INSANE. 40.000ppl on average per date for her first world tour is crazy!
Well, I can tell you that she's sold over 11 million concert tickets to date; more than any other female unless you count Las Vegas residencies.

The total number is about 14 million actually. (I got my calculator out and got 14224644) Did you count the first few tours as well? It's remarkable considering that she didn't tour a lot of dates yet..
So I say 14 mill, but you say 11 mill. let's say we take it in the middle and go for 12,5 mill (just because I don't feel like having discussions about this.)
that would mean she has an audience from 12,5 million with 455 dates.
However, if my calculation is correct (and I counted all of the attendance numbers I found online..) that would mean she got
over 14.2 million people from only 455 dates.
let's also keep in mind that U2 and AC/DC and those bands who grossed more had double the dates.
Shocking how I never made this calculation before..If I'm not mistaken, no other music artist or band has so many viewers with such few dates.
you think it's thread worthy in the base or will it get closed?

The incredible thing about Madonna is that she tours with less than 100 dates. The MDNA Tour was her 'longest' one and it was only 88 shows!! Even with 56 stops The Re-Invention Tour is the 41st highest grossing tour its the least attended one with 896,787/904,512 tickets sold (Slane Castle was the only 'flop' date with ONLY 62,275/70,000 tickets sold, but still made $2.1 million per show with an average attendance of 16,428.)
I would have to slightly argue that Madonna's tickets a sort of high, but for the people who say this are the fans who remember when concerts were under $200 (probably even less for some) or like me who is a fan of pop girls like Britney, Lady Gaga etc, their normal tickets are NOT the $350 floor tickets Madonna charged for the MDNA Tour (North America was all reserved floor except the the outdoor show in Quebec), but when you look at the production value you get for the show it makes sense of why they are higher.

Yeah, lots of people DO argue about the ticket price, I've seen both S&S and MDNA Tour, paid more than 150eu (~$180) per show for front row... plus traveled 3hrs with a plane to get to her concert(s)... but it's all worthy, I'd pay even higher if she asked to... so would anyone else that's really into "a show".
I secretly wished there was a MDNA part 2 tour, Asia/Australia + Some European dates... she would top S&S with that by gross and attendance.
Her contract has 2 more Worldwide tours, right? I can't seem to find the article about it.... I hope she's gonna do an early 2014 release of the album (altho she won't, she said at the BB awards that she haven't even started) and a tour in the summer...
Of course we care I cherish your current one, so cool
I would be here for something 90s thogh, like 1994
Yes, actually the Bedtime Stories (+ Ray of Light) shoot is my favourite. I found some great pictures, need to dig them out again. But first let me enjoy the 80s some more in anticipation of that Time magazine issue of 27th may 1985.

MTV talked about what is known in the Madonna camp as the “Secret Project.”The civil rights project was supposed to be unveiled a couple weeks back, but Madonna has delayed it. According to MTV and CNN, the project involves Steven Klein, a new song, a new video, and a call to action by her fans.
Madonna shot the video for her secret project last December and recorded a new song that deals with feminist power earlier this year. The name of the song was tentatively titled “Back of the Bus,” but that could change in the final version. It is said to be one of the most powerful ballads Madonna has haver come up with. It compares the struggle women face around the world with the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950s.
Madonna has a special place in her heart for empowering young women. In 1989, she released the song “Express Yourself,” which became an anthem for women’s rights. It also became the subject of plagiarism when Lady Gaga completely copied the song note-for-note and used the same vocal style.
There is no official date for the release of Madonna’s latest work. But we are sure it will be worth the wait.
