A blockbuster hit like Iron Man won't die down after a weekend. It needs a couple weeks for the hype to die down. Epic just happened to be released right when Iron Man's peak was over. It was chance timing.

The only real big release since IM3 was Star trek, which is not really popular in Mexico.

And being #1 is not really that impressive in Mexico for an animated film, considering how big animated movies do here, even if they flop in the rest of the world. 9 of the top 20 best grossing movies in Mexico are animated
