Sharing her story of domestic abuse will allow the public to see her in a completely different light. Instead of a beautiful, black sex icon, they will see she is a real woman who has experienced REAL hurt, pain and abuse.
The honesty of the song and the emotion that they will SEE for themselves will make people IDENTIFY and RELATE to her instead of just ADMIRE her beauty or sexiness.
THAT'S what SELLS ALBUMS, when people can IDENTIFY with you, when your music touches them and speaks to their hearts.
