No one is assuming anything. All the people on this forum that know how radio works have mentioned that something is happening. Go look at the playlists of all pop Clear Channel stations. They played it every hour on Monday and then after that they kept it on higher medium rotation. It is an automated add across all CC pop stations for the whole week. Same number of spins, same position on all stations. That is not how radio works under normal circumstances. We will see what's gonna happen after Tuesday.

Go look by yourself. Allaccess.com, Mediabase or ask radio experts on this or other forums. Why is it considered bad that it's getting special treatment? Tons of artists have had deals. Gaga did it for a whole week and it was every hour! At least Mariah's is not for every hour.
Even Elvis Duran in the morning on Z100 made fun of the whole situation and apologized in a funny way for playing the song so much for a whole week. He said those decisions "come from above". Lambs know that Z100 and Elvis do not like Mariah. It had almost hit no1 on pop when they finally added We Belong Together and they ignored Obsessed.
