AC targets women 35-54. The median age of the listener is 43 years old.
HOT AC targets women 25-44. Median age 35.
Top40/Pop targets teens and women 18-34 in markets without a HOT AC, but most of the times teens and females 18-25 because in most big markets there is a HOT AC. Median age 24.
Rhythmic targets both males and females 18-25. Median age is 22-23..
Urban targets equally both African-Amercan male and female listeners. Median age 25.
Urban AC targets African-American females and males to a lesser extent. Median age 42.
Alternative males. Median age 26.
Country both males and females. Median age 40.
Sports males. Median age 43.
Classic hits/oldies males and females. median age 51.
Rock males. Median age 35
Classic Rock males. Median age 45.
Classical males and females. Median age 60.
Triple A males and females. Median age 38.
That is why if your favs do pop and are over 40 they are done on radio unless they feature a young hot artist. This week only we had two examples. Mariah and JLO, both 43 years old. Mariah doesn't even start singing until like 1:30 seconds on her own song. Unfortunately that is how the industry is.
Kids 20 years younger cannot relate to them and when you are young you are very ageist like most member on ATRL as if they won't be 40+ one day too. Lol.
Even if they like a song by an "old" artist, kids won't admit it and they answer negatively in surveys because they think it is not cool to say you like a Madonna, Janet, Cher, etc. song. Dumb.
