This makes the RIAA certifications even more irrelevant and pointless than before. You can't even use that for sales not even in the past because there are so many uncertified artists like Eminem who has sold over 42 million albums in the US alone acording to Soundscan but his albums certifications are 35x Platinum because his label doesn't care or doesn't wanna pay for certifications.
Or multiplatinum singles without any certification like Womanizer, Circus, Born This Way, So What, Last Friday Night, Raise Your Glass, Wide Awake just to name a few of them because there so many.
So the only thing useful of the RIAA is to have an estimate of album sales before 1991 because Soundscan didn't exist before that year and for the music club album sales that soundscan didn't count in the past.

Well okay, streams are paid and according to some posts streams will overtake downloads but RIAA's just mixing everything together and even adds views I mean ONE BIG BIBLIO at this s***.
They just should have created different certification for streams!!!!! It'd be for the best....
Streaming is how a section of the population listens to music now. It's only natural that they update to the present.
But RIAA and Billboard are such a ****ing mess that they even count non-paid views, now the music industry is all about inflation. Plus our faves still lose money with this ****, that's why we're all pissed.
