I don't think it has anything to do with her "involvement" in her work though.

I really do think it's just that she's ALWAYS around, so it leaves nothing left to be desired. Right now, Katy/Gaga/etc. are missing from the scene and people are looking forward to their new work. When can we feel that way about Rihanna? We can't, because she's always putting out a new single/album.

People need to want her back and demand her music, which a break would help with. That'll help her big time in being taken seriously. It would also prove to people that she wouldn't be forgotten when she took a break, which her critics like to say.

If she takes a break she will loose her radio power and she has nothing else to fall back on because people don't care about her performances and her personal life has become too boring and pathetic to care about.
