WAIT, STOP NOW.
The Pokemon stans are going to try and just drag the **** out of Digimon.
Digimon's story, character development, the dark plot to it, how it was constantly reinventing itself >
I love both Pokemon and Digimon to the ends of the earth but Digimon is definitely iconic and stands its own to Pokemon.
Only reason Pokemon is more known is the fact that it started as a video game.
AND YASSSS AT ALL THE LOVE FOR QUEENS LILLYMON AND RIKA. Ash could never. (though I love him too lolz)
But nobody remembers Digimon. It perhaps was too intricate for its direct audience to truly grip the sense of a phenomenon that the Pokemon franchise did. See, I would even argue Yu-Gi-Oh is iconic and it didn't start as a video game. Yu-Gi-Oh its impact branches among multiple media. Digimon is a memorable franchise, but it's hard to identify it as iconic, especially since it did live under the shadow of Pokemon and Yugioh throughout most of its peak.
The Digimon theme songs are iconic tbh. Everybody who lived during Digimon's peak remembers "Digimon, digital monsters Digimon are the champ-IONS" and "Hey Digimon hey Digimon champions of the digital wo-orld"
I stan for both but...
Pokemon theme >>> Digimon theme while it is catchy and memorable it doesn't compare to pokemon's first season theme song.
Digimon's plot and character development >>>> Pokemon's ash remains a kid and is basically the same as he always was while in digimon you felt like you actually grew up with the first season cast and they got older too.
Pokemon's monsters >>>> Digimons no one really uses most of the digimon while you can name more than 5 pokemon off the top of your head.
Digimon's monsters cool factor >>> Pokemons while most don't use them they are very known for their transformations and could interact with their trainers in the same language.
Both are iconic in their own way but i will go with Digimon
