Pop princess Britney Spears is heading to Las Vegas
with an initial two-year deal of some 40 alternating weekend shows at Planet Hollywood’s PH Live, but still unknown is the start date. However, ambitious plans for a major splash to announce all the details are under way.
“It’s a very large, moving jigsaw puzzle -- there are so many parts to this,” I was reliably told. “Key people want tickets to go on sale at the same time as the official announcement about the contract signing and show details are released.
“
There will be a major marketing and advertising effort behind this. There will be a press conference in Las Vegas and other events with Britney, plus, major world TV coverage and photography.”
Vegas DeLuxe first revealed the plans for her run of Strip shows this year -- we posted stories on Jan. 10 and a follow-up on Feb. 11. Britney’s production designers and Caesars Entertainment chiefs are dealing with the intricacies of a reconfigured PH Live at Planet Hollywood.
The technicalities of new audio and visual equipment have to be updated. It will reportedly involve new construction and installation. Until that timetable has been set, there can’t be an announcement of dates and ticket sales.
Then, of course, will come Britney’s own timetable involving cast, crew and staff, followed by rehearsals. The timeline is built toward a “for the moment” unknown completion date for Britney to move into the finished theater.
I’m also reliably told that Britney is excited about the show concept that is now in place for her pop extravaganza, but she can’t progress until her management has been given the theater availability dates.
Insiders tell me that all executives involved are wrestling with
the decision of making the “big splash announcement” before month’s end without show dates and ticket information or waiting until the refurbishing timeline is firmed up so that everything can be announced simultaneously.
“Everything is moving closer and closer to wrap up the final parts of the puzzle.
Britney wants to come to Las Vegas and is excited and looking forward to it. But she’s waiting now like everybody else for the last pieces to drop into place and get her start date,” I was told.
While waiting,
it’s safe to project that Britney‘s show will start in the spring of 2014, but, if everybody pushes,
it might just happen later this fall.
