Beyoncé Knowles 'her biggest competition'

Beyoncé Knowles has been labelled "a perfectionist" as she has reportedly delayed the release of her new recordings three times.
Beyoncé Knowles' "perfectionist" sensibility is said to be impacting her music.
The singer has reportedly delayed the release of a new single from her forthcoming album because she is determined to outdo her previous success.

Apparently the star is not worried about other strong female figures in the music industry. Instead she is concerned that her upcoming record will not match the sales of her previous tunes.

"Beyoncé is a perfectionist - and her biggest competition is herself," a source told British newspaper The Sun.
According to the report, she is looking at her anthem Single Ladies for comparison when considering new material for the charts.

The tune went four times platinum and so she feels there is a lot to live up to.

"She won't put anything out as her first single until she's 100 per cent sure it will be a classic," the insider explained. "She's putting pressure on herself for it to be a hit of Single Ladies calibre, and to make sure she's on top of the game."

One of the tracks that was considered to lead the hits from her next LP was traded in to be featured in a soda commercial.
Additionally another track titled Bow Down was deemed too disrespectful to women and a hypocritical message in terms of listening content for her fans and rivals.
"The first single was supposed to be Grown Woman - but that got cancelled and used as a teaser for her new Pepsi ad," the source added.

However it does make sense. We know she's a perfectionist, we know she's said her only competition is herself, and we know we have no single yet.

I think she probably easily could have released an album but is waiting to make sure it's perfect and that's fine by me. Beyonce's half-perfect is usually perfect so what does "perfect" mean to her?

Also it gives me hope because Crazy in Love was recorded last on Dangerously in Love, after Naughty Girl was already planned to be the first single, and we all know how that went.

I know right. RTW is an amazing song, but admittedly, a grower.

EOT has all the eccentricities of RTW but without the harshness and with a more powerful hook as well as an original sound and is more of a "song". It surely would have done much better than RTW. It'd be so interesting to find out why RTW was selected over EOT anyway.

I almost feel like Bey can't release a new single right now because the fans from last night might be pissed. It's almost like it has to come toward the end of this first leg of the tour and then leave her the time off in June to promote the album. I know Kelly Rowland's album is coming out June 8th or something right? So it makes me wonder if Bey will be before her or after her and you never know, Bey could surprise all of us and drop it in May but then I wonder if fans will be mad. Oh well, Bey never dropped new music before the tour, so people who bought tickets shouldn't have expected any. I'm just thinking outloud.....
