I think people want something that seems sincere and real. Britney can't be making party songs, or songs about sex for the rest of her career right? Because then there won't be any progression. She'll fall in the trap of many singers that remain safe and never grow. Britney needs to take some risks, but she also needs to progress and grow. Her first five albums had a strong and clear progression. But her last two were her being stuck in the mud. She has to do something new for this album.

You just said it yourself, femme fatale was the only "insincere" album we have had to date.
Britney however warned us about it!
She said that she wanted FF to be a fun album.
Circus was also pretty sincere, honest and a mature pop album in my opinion. I mean it has song like Unusual, Blur, Shattered glass, etc...nothing was generic about it.
I mean what else do you expect from her? An adult contemporary album, country album, or r&b album?
Briteny will always be a pop artist.
