The fact that Everytime gave ITZ it's peak, only enhances my 1 week old theory that Britney needs a mid-tempo to be her first single in order for the UK and other countries to start taking her more seriously after 7 years of just club bops.
I don't see "Lost In The Charts" making an impact like "Out From Under" did in Sweden which surely will replicate throughout Europe, South America, Africa, Australia and Asia.

'Born To Make You Happy' also helped her debut re-peak.

Sweden (Sverigetopplistan) - #32
Bubbling Under Hot 100
Out From Under - #119
You Lost Me - #120

She can't flop in the USA. Releasing ballad or mid tempo song as lead single is a disaster it would smash in the uk but it will flop
In the USA. An I don't like that at all
Britney doesn't need to release any mid-tempo or ballad single at ALL, unless it's coming from her heart. "Out From Under," "Criminal" were contrived and generic as hell. "Everytime" worked because it was actually raw and emotional. Justin needs to dip his dick in a bit to reignite some feelings.

The ONLY reason Britney is not flopping in the US is the Army. I am sure the Army will support Britney's first single no matter what, and you can't just predict that it would flop in the US because she never released a slow track as a first single. Who knows? I keep picturing Britney having her Big Girls Don't Cry moment, and we all know no1curr about her 3rd+ singles..

Britney don't need no Justin for a hit ballad. Unusual You is incomparable.

It's obvious that she will never release ballad or mid tempo song as lead single.
Can you imagine if she lip syncs a ballad lead single on TV?
