The label should have waited a bit more, shouldn't they? TS is bigger on sales, streaming and Youtube views. How much will Bruno need to outsell Macklemore to get that number 1?
I think it's smart for Bruno to discount his single. Their label knows that Thrift Shop is running on its last legs and they don't want WIWYM to be so close to #2, and then fall with TS or have JGAR hit #1 and Bruno's single to be stuck at #2.
Don't worry though, they will all have their chances to hit #1
Pink could be #1 on Hot 100 too next week ... if on sale. She was like 30% ahead of Bruno in sales before the gift card thing on Sunday and Bruno's discount, she is #3 on YouTube and a discount could increase the sales enough to cover the airplay gap. But I don't want a "cheap" #1 so looking forward to see JGMAR doing it the right way in the near future.
