However, she's also never gonna be "back" for the same reason.
Falling to 552 next week?

Sigh...

I still stand behind my statement that the next lead single should be mid-tempo. 'Till The World Ends,' 'I Wanna Go,' and now 'Scream & Shout' seem to have made her name/music synonymous with generic. I think that international audiences would be much more supportive of it. Then follow it up with a killer up-tempo.
|
Um, if her song is released in August/September then yes if released in May/June I need an uptempo summer smash.

Britney needs to take it back. A mid-tempo that serves some 'Baby One More Time' era vocals...I want people feelin' it, then be like..."Wait, that's Britney Spears?"
Britney should take more risks with her lead singles.

True.

Her only safe lead single was probably 'Me Against The Music.'

I don't see how anyone would call Hold it against me or Womanizer risky. Womanizer was a woman anthem and reflected her issues with her ex husband. It's actually safe...just different and unique. She did put it out around the time of other woman anthems but definitely safe.
Hold it against me came when the dance craze what at its best just she introduced dupstep to pop radio. You are usually on point with your assessments.

I mean, Britney also doesn't need a FTR documentary considering there's not so much going on around her. The only time she'll need a documentary is when she gets out of the conservatorship to answer some questions.
|
She needs to go over her 8th album and vegas deal and show her life 5 years later so I totally disagree.

I don't think MATM was safe, the structure and verses were very jarring.
I mean OiDIA is obviously her safest, I mean it was basically a clone from her first album anyway
|
Me against the music was not safe. She went against the grain and did an underground dance song when hip hop was huge. There is a reason Jive made her put outrageous and boom boom on the record just in case the dance thing didn't work. Good point on OIDIA

For me:
#1 Me against the music...going against the hip hop craze, remix prostitution and rent a rapper phase and going underground dance.
#2 My prerogative...covering a classic and going into her rebellious I don't give a phase
#3 Baby...people forget how suggestive it was for a 16 year old to sing.
#4 Gimme more...not much of a risk but too much destructive I don't give a attitude could have been a turn off.
#5 Slave...I mean hip hop beats were big but no one made it work where it was a pop girl doing urban pop. They either tried too hard to be hip hop or it didn't work at all. This was pure urban influenced pop.
#6 Womanizer...I mean, it was a right down the middle pitch
#7 Hold it against me...although introducing dubstep to mainstream it was still released at the heat of dance music
#8 3...one off
#9 Oops...kudos to making overproduced vocals more mainstream but this was baby's step sister that was sexy in a different kind of way. They both could catch it...

'Oops!' was risky, which song released around that time included actual dialogues?
'Me Against The Music' was very current and kind of generic, despite its structure. It hasn't aged well at all. 'Oops!' sounds much fresher in comparison.
|
The lies in this post. Not you saying a dialogue makes a song risky. You had a better shot using the overproduced vocals that everyone hated on her for but then end up doing later.

All of her other lead singles have been risky or edgy in some way.

Really, you call 'Baby' safe. Hmm.
