In the UK all the major parties are accepting of gay rights, and generally homosexuality just doesn't cause many problems in the UK anymore. Well, except for the whole gay marriage debate, but that is a different story.
The only homophobia I have witnessed since moving to the UK, is from strict Catholic communities. A Catholic church nearby where I live boycotted public transport because of this advert on a local bus...
...no one cared though, that flop church has about 40 members.
What I am trying to say is that in every country you will always get the odd homophobe here and there, but homophobia isn't brainwashed into the people, unlike some US communities.
We still have a way to go though, I still firmly believe that Scandinavia is the most liberal, least homophobic place on Earth. Everywhere should learn from them.
