Maybe Loud was originally going to be called "Unapologetic" she has mentioned that title since 2010 in interviews in magazines and on tv.
I don't know about that. Unapologetic would not have been a fitting title for the 5th album at all.

True, but I much prefer "Side Effects" to "Unapologetic" Side Effects fits the whole structure of the album lyrically and also does in Rihanna's music video's so far. Unapologetic is much better than Talk That Talk but Rated R and Loud remain her best albums, I think Rihanna and her production team and label need to come up with a new approach, and a new sound for the 8th album she has shown progression has an artist from Music of the Sun to Loud but since Loud I don't feel like there has been growth or progression, Talk That Talk was just a poorer version of Loud . I also do think Rihanna is capable of getting more than a Platinumn album in the U.S. I'm just not sure they're ready to take a big risk yet because of how Rated R underperformed . However Rihanna is going to have one long career in the music industry
'Unapologetic' was a **** you to the critics who were obviously going to bash the album and the message it tried to convey. She was making a statement.
At first i also preferred side effects but looking back, Unapologetic is a much better title.
