Hey hey
You're almost home, you're almost home, you're almost home
I see the light in the sky
In disguise like fireflies
Burning bright, just to vanish in the dark
I've held hope in my two hands
That there would be another chance
To find a kingdom I believe in in my heart
Cause underneath the good is something greater than you know
Chorus
When you're almost there and you're almost home
Just open up your eyes and go, go
When you're almost there, almost home
Know you're not alone, you're almost home, home
(You're almost home)
When you run, run so far
You've forgotten who you are
Where you're from is like some other universe
You count your steps like the regrets
You catch one breath and lose the rest
Wrong is right, right is left
And there's nowhere left to turn
So don't believe in everything
You think you think you know
Chorus
When you're almost there and you're almost home
Just open up your eyes and go, go
When you're almost there, almost home
Know you're not alone, you're almost home, home
When you let your heart be the compass
(It will always lead you home)
You won't get lost, not if you trust it
(It will always lead you home)
When you hear the sound of the trumpet louder than ever before
Chorus
When you're almost there, almost home
Just open up your eyes and go, go
Cause you're almost there, almost home
Know you're not alone, you're almost home, home, home, home
When you're almost there, almost home
Just open up your eyes and go, go
Almost there, you're almost home
Know you're not alone, you're almost home, home, home, home

This song is everything. The lyrics, the vocals, the production.

it's especially apparent in the first verse, it's approaching Glee levels. I do like the song, though.

my review:
Wait is this Mariah Carey singing a Pop song? Yes it is and all it took to make her sing a Pop song again, was a call from Mickey and co. The songtress who has a vocal range that only dolphins can imitate and dogs can hear, unleaches vocals on her new song Almost Home that might very well revive her fanbase (and therefore chart career) after years of lethargic flatlining over stale beat-ballads. It's not a secret that Mariah Carey can sing any genre - younger people may be assured that the R&B diva had infact more than just a few hits on the Pop chart as well. That is why Almost Home could also be interpreted as a return to her musical beginnings. For the first time in years, Mariah Carey sings a song which might still be mid-tempo but which has the ability to crossover to the downloads-buying mainstream crowd, due to its upbeat nature. Mariah hasn't changed the music game on Almost Home but she manages to remind everyone why her career is considered one of the greatest in music history. The instrument that has always set her apart from the crowd is her voice and that voice is once again highlighted here. Those of you that wait for her to crack and break into breathy whisper notes will not find any pleasure in Almost Home because for the first time in years Mariah doesn't hold back and sings in full, clear voice throughout an entire song. The structure of the song, however, is nothing new. The song starts slow and it might be difficult for casual listeners to realize that it's Mariah Carey singing in a lower register but once the bridge is reached, Mariah sings staccato lines with such ease and clarity that one might get the impression that the DeLorean brought us back to a point in the mid 1990's.
The Stargate produced song sounds current, has a radio-friendly length and much potential to become another entry on Mariah's catalogue of hits.

The reviews are the opposite when Triumphant was released.. THIS IS A SIGN
Speaking of Glee, I dont mind if its featured in that Show, the MORE PROMO, the BETTER

And there's pitch shifting too, which is fairly obvious because some of these notes she hasn't hit live in years. But it's really the same games she's been playing since Merry Christmas II You, where it's pretty noticable. The casual listener probably won't pick up on it though.
