Sharyn Casey of The Edge and FOUR Live and New Zealand’s number one Beyonce fan has taken to Facebook to get Kiwi’s to rally together in a bid to bring Beyonce to New Zealand.
This month Beyonce announced ‘The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour’. With the term ‘World Tour’ in the title, New Zealand was on standby for a date announcement, but quickly learned Beyonce’s ‘World Tour’ only covers Europe and North America.
Not satisfied with Beyonce missing New Zealand off the map, Sharyn and The Edge set up a petition on Facebook (
www.facebook.com/BeyoncetoNZ). Their goal: to inspire Beyonce to make her Kiwi fans’ dreams come true.
"I mean who wouldn’t want to see her live", says Sharyn.
"Within 24-hours the page had over 3,000 Likes and now we’re sitting just over 8,000 Likes; half way to the 15,000 mark!"
Taryn Kerr, Promotions Manager at Sony Music New Zealand has said "when the Facebook petition page reaches 15,000 Likes we’ll send it to the right people".
"We’re really impressed by the ‘Bring Beyonce to NZ’ Facebook page, it looks fantastic! Keep up the great work and let’s get Beyonce’s attention by showing her just how many people want to see her show in New Zealand".
Beyonce has only been to New Zealand twice, once with Destiny's Child and another time to watch her husband, Jay Z open for U2.
