In my opinion, the pop on PF:RR was okay, just for that ONE album. Nicki should never touch that generic kind of pop again. Nicki is a rapper, and needs to stick to rapping. Lyrically shes improved so much from PF:RR, so i'm excited for the all rap album that TPP is going to be.

Drake also has a much bigger female fanbase that will download his music instantly. He's positioned in the market place as a "damaged soul", and that's why girls go wild for him. He is essentially the hip-hop equivalent to Justin Bieber. Nicki doesn't really have that type of thing going on with her casual fans - if she releases a crap song, we're not going to just download because she's fulfilling a subconscious sexual desire, where as a lot of Drake's fans would. Speaking very generally here.

Urban radio plays BOPS. Something like Freaks and HS will give Nicki another Top 40/Top 20 hit on Billboard. SFTB will go Top 20 very soon.

Edit: And you can't compare Freedom with Started From the Bottom. SFTB is a lead single while Freedom is like the 10th freaking single from RR. And I just realized that Drake only has 4 songs in the Top 10 as a lead artist.
