So people really think this song will sell over 8.5-9M WW.
I'm think 7-8 tops.

And BARF @ Scream & Shout becoming her biggest worldwide hit, that would be absolutely PATHETIC.

Wasn't X factor supposed to be for hasbeens too. Britney will continue to defy what seems to make sense to the GP. She's the exception to every rule. Always doubting the underdog. She's the most successful female artist of the 21st century and from the beginning of her career she was never supposed to do many things:
She was never supposed to:
-have another hit after Baby one more time because she was a one-hit wonder.
-do it again after having a diamond selling debut...oops
-have a successful album after the teen pop crazed died down.
-have relevance in the industry because people perceived her as a one-trick pony who only was successful for her looks, body and clever marketing and was supposed to be one-dimensional.
-have a successful career after Justin Timberlake exposed her to further his career
-have success after rebelling with her looks and marrying an out of work dancer
-have success after the sex symbol image died with her rebellious basic looks and conceiving two babies
-have success after a public meltdown and rehab
-have success after tarnishing her performance image after the 2007 VMAs
-have success with an album 2 weeks after losing custody of her kids
-comeback from a meltdown after being on 5150 hold
-lasting career after the comeback hype died down
-have longevity with the newer group of artist taking her spot
-get public praise being on the xfactor because it was make her look like a hasbeen
-being featured on a Will.i.am song
-Vegas residency
She is an exception to every rule. She broke the rules and truly rebelled against everything she stood for (looks, youth, image, etc.). She wrote the book on the good, bad and ugly of having a career in the entertainment industry and SURVIVED it and is still standing.
I hope the Vegas thing does happen because she will be the first legend of the new generation to be added to the legends of the past (Elton, Celine, Shania, Cher and them other ones).

Femme fatale proved that she had pull and presence even when the musical landscape was dominated by new pop tarts.

Fine, still Britney is a Pop artist, she has a young following, she easily scores hits as she appeals to teens and people in their 20s, meanwhile Céline is an Adult Contemporary artist, i don't think i have to add more.
So you basically want to wait for Britney to stop getting hits; that would mean her time has passed and she is an has been therefore she can do a residency show. Cool.
 someone is angry!
Not relevant and still selling albums. Legend

I don't see why she'd have to wait. The industry is about reinvention and she could reinvent the idea of Vega shows and open up doors for current artist.

OBVIOUSLY the younger generation will soon move on from Britney but the point is that NOW, in the PRESENT she is still relevant and above Vegas residencies at this point.
And I don't care if Celine's album will outsell Britney's, so did Madonna and Nickleback's last albums does that mean they're more relevant than her?
FF bombed, it's not like outselling it is a hard task LMFAO.
In 2013, Record sales>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Album sales

Britney won't become irrelevant at 35 she'll be 32 this year. I don't think only 3 years are enough to make her irrelevant.
I agree she's too young to do a Vegas residency, I was here for the check though.
|
I wouldn't mind her doing the show. I do think she will be having the curtain call on her career by the close of this decade. I see a 9th, 10th and maybe 11th album before she bows out on top.

You know, just another day for her, being the 1st at something.
In all seriousness, I wasn't here for it, and I still am not entirely... BUT if it means no worldwide tour for another 3 years, then bring it! Britney desperately needs to rest her WW tour image, and if we don't get this Vegas residency her next tour will begin by February/March next year, you can mark my words.
Anywayz, I say for now we should just enjoy and make peace with the fact that the generic S&S will outsell all her singles with - Lord helps us - the excepction of BOMT.
|
I mean, she WILL be the first relevant artist to do it and open up doors for others. Just like what she did for Nicki Minaj when she was on X factor. All of the other female pop stars (Paula, JLO, Christina, Mariah) were struggling with uncertified albums and flop movies/singles before getting a boost from their shows. Britney was the only one riding high off of success coming in.

And won't be the last....Round #3 in 2013

And yet no matter how many more records Celine sells a single f won't be given in terms of relevancy in pop culture. Celine made her mark but Britney will continue to make hits and be relevant even if she doesn't release French canadian albums. What kind of strange comparison?
