Gaga started talking about the album in 2011. She even started confirming tracks (She talked about the Elton collab while Marry The Night was a single). She released the album title last year and, by this time during the Born This Way era, we already had a first single. Surely, she wouldn't have told so much info so far ahead of ARTPOP's release.

Nope, she's just doing the exact same as what she did for Born This Way ie announce the album title in 2012 (but less publicised like Born This Way) and have it ready to be released in 2013

When you really think about it, it doesn't seem possible.
She played the album to her label in summer, presumably in demo form, so there wouldn't be time to record/remaster ARTPOP for a 2012 release. Plus, she's obviously waited till now to finish the tracks with Zedd in person...so it kind of implies the album hasn't been intended to be released before 2013 for a long time. I doubt she'd want to finish an album without her producers there in person.
...or maybe the songs were just as "out there" as Born This Way, and the label didn't want the risk...
Good point. Maybe I'm thinking like the label. I don't necessarily want a safe album, but I do want a commercial album. Born This Way was great, but it actually alienated the GP in a lot of ways.
She probably just doesn't have the same creative control over her music that she had with "Born This Way", it happens sometimes, since her label wan't her to give them more selling singles.So she's probably being told to re-do material and go back to the studio. It happens a lot.
I'm sorry, but this isn't Kesha or Azelia Banks we're talking about. This is Lady ****ing Gaga. The label wouldn't have needed to scrap her music and start again, as it would've been fairly decent anyway.
I agree with other posts, it was always intended to be released in 2013. When people used to say in the Base forum that we're gonna get it in September, then October, then November, then December, etc etc, I knew it was gonna be next to impossible as she was touring in EUROPE and SOUTH AMERICA at that time. How the hell is she supposed to promote her new album when she's halfway around the world? If she was touring in North America back then, I could understand.
No, 2013 was always the release year for ARTPOP. I have to admit, I thought she'd do a similar thing as Born This Way and promote while on the NA tour, but it looks like she wanted to get the BTW era out of the way and finished before starting on a new era (remember, she said specifically that she wanted a 'fresh start').
Honestly, it's gonna be about two years since BTW when ARTPOP gets released. What are people complaining about? Most albums are released about that timeframe (and a lot of times even greater). Gaga is not Rihanna, she doesn't have people send her a new song, and record it in one day, ready to put a new album out in a few months.
Whatever. If you gurls wanna speculate that she showed her label crappy music (why the hell would she tell Twitter that she played the album to her label if at that meeting they told her to go back and start again?? Think, people......), then I really don't care. I'm just excited about the coming 6 months and am sure to hear some more great music.
She probably hasn't got a complete idea on what the concept of the album should be. I wouldn't be surprised if she confused herself trying to do something extraordinary and groundbreaking
