My thoughts on the scene from last night (If anyone wants to chat about Idol and not deal with the lag, I'll be on Nicki Boards. the name is the same
1) they TOTALLY pressured that young woman into saying she had a love for country music even though she stated she had been there and moved on! it clearly wasn't her passion. That's like some telling Nicki "Oh you sounded great on Turn Me On. You're a dance artist"
2) she was passionate about the CONTESTANT, this compassion stemmed from her ability to relate to not only the countree gurl, but the rocker chick too. they were so quick to try and make her into something else!
I usually don't advocate the race card, but when Nicki pulled it out last night it was very very justified. Because she was a BLACK GIRL her authenticity was immediately questioned. Had she been white they wouldn't have second guessed her. They may have still said no, but they wouldn't have questioned the authenticity of it. I really hope Nicki mentor's these cntestants in as a constructive of a way when they're in Hollywood.
