Based on its first two days of airplay when the Billboard Hot 100 airplay/sales/streaming hybrid chart was tabulated on Wednesday (16), "Suit" debuted at No. 84. With a full week of airplay and sales, the song could vault into the Hot 100's top five when the chart is refreshed on Wednesday (23) this week. According to RCA Records, the song sold 310,078 downloads in its first week (ending Jan. 20) - however, official sales figures will be released on Wednesday morning by Nielsen SoundScan.

I think labels in general are going to stubbornly fight against the streaming element for their bigger selling artists, like Taylor and Adele. Mainly because they, like the stans on here, emphasize the important s of having larger sales. There also seems to be the common misconception that streaming takes away from sales, which has not been shown to be true at all. (See fun, Gotye, and Carly Rae Jepsen's single sales. All of whom made it above 6x Platinum)

More streaming = fewer sales. And sales are more important than a new peak on the Hot 100. I think Taylor really wanted a #1 so they went all out for We are never ever getting back together. Now that she got it, it's back to sales.

They didn't put up WANEGBT on Spotify until it had lost number one for good. I agree that they are trying to maximize sales, but by sabotaging their artists' chart performance, the labels fail to recognize that their overall performance becomes crippled. We Are Never losing number one and not returning made it seem as though people were getting over the song, so radios didn't give it nearly enough longevity, and it lost out in its overall sales longevity.
Songs that sell well get lots of streams. Except for the very rare exception, but frankly, the streaming flops are also weak sellers (like P!nk's singles ).
