But what I don't get it how it works once it's 8am. Could I camp somewhere near the arena and then sprint for my life to get to the line at 8am and not get disqualified?

On the right side if obviously Gaga, her family, Lady Starlight, DJ White Shadow. On the left side, Tara, Fozzi and I feel like that "Jesus" is Terry Richardson.

I wish I could help you, but I really don't know. At least here in Brazil the 8AM rule was not respected. Things seem to be different in the US, though.

I got into the monster pitt, without showing up hours early. I got there at 6pm, was in line for less then 5 minutes got it, and they gave my a wristband. I guess its possible very few showed up at 8am to get 'em and I was extremely lucky.

I know the 8am rule was enforced in Vancouver, as well the official line doesn't start until 4pm.
