His fans can hype this up to the heavens all they want and pretend their taste is fabulous and they have an ear for "quality music" all they want... It doesn't matter which way they twist it because its a horrible and bland comeback single. With all the hype, I expected to be blown away and clicked play and thought I was listening to a fake leak that was really Robin Thicke. Watch this become a buzz single. I'm disappointed
I'm actually really hoping for a radio edit, though. It's good, but it has no radio potential in my opinion. It needs something to make it a little bit more radio-friendly, cause it is pure R&B at this point, and needs just a BIT of pop in it. Not enough to classify it as pop/R&B, but just to give it some zing in some departments.
I'm sure people will love this, it is fresh, different from what is on the radio right now. Perfect to begin a new era and gain some attention. The next singles might be more uptempo, probably, I hope.
I'm starting to really like the song but I totally see what you're saying.
It will sound great in the context of the album, I think. It's very much a mood song. Kind of like an extended, quality interlude? But it's not a strong radio single, & I would be surprised if radio, especially pop radio, latched onto this. First of all, it's over 5 minutes long. And it's not particularly catchy.
!!!!!!!
It feels like an experimental album track to me. I'm baffled that he put that as his lead (?) single.
