It's an intellectually dishonest argument for people to use when they are pressed and just want a reason to hate on someone that they already spend hours of their daily lives hating anyways.
The fact is
everyone in this thread knows that every celebrities has fans on Twitter or elsewhere online that go too far, make threats, or offensive remarks against others. If every celebrity spent time reprimanding every one of their fans who do too much, no one would have the time to do anything else. I mean hell, look at how many warning points and bans are given on a daily basis just on this site alone! Unfortunately, because of this it's fairly easy for someone to take a handful of tweets and claim that it's representative of the entire population of a celebrities fans, even if that celebrity has tens of millions of fans just on twitter alone and your "sample" might include a few thousand tweets, if that.
It doesn't mean it's alright for these users to make these remarks, but there's really nothing a celebrity can do about some 15 year old fan acting like an idiot online. With a simple twitter search, I can find several threats of violence against Gaga (and in fact I just did). It's an unfortunate downside of the anonymity of the internet, but making arguments with those tweets like many have with Gaga is simply intellectually dishonest.
