I discovered No Doubt from hearing Spiderwebs on Guitar Hero when I was a freshman in high school I became immersed in their music for about 2 weeks... and then a tragic (no pun intended) event occurred in my life, and since I wasn't listening to anything but No Doubt around that time, I couldn't listen to them the same way after (same story for Madonna actually). But I rediscovered them earlier this year, and got into how much this album slays. This album has been credited with bring the ska sound back to mainstream music. Songs like Just A Girl and Hey You serve as great examples of how the band sounds, but it was the sappy crossover ballad Don't Speak that made them superstars. It was the #20 album on my list, so I'm quite pleased with it's position.
I feel like Spiderwebs, Just a Girl, Sunday Morning, and Don't Speak completely overshadow the rest. It has filler but those tracks are among the best pop songs of the 90s.

Those are the best tracks and the obvious singles, but Hey You, the title track, and Sixteen are great as well. So are the others, just not quite as good.

Exile in Guyville opens with what is in my opinion the best trinity of opening songs ever. 6'1, Help Me Mary, and Glory introduce the listener to Liz's musical sensibility and her opinions about chauvinistic men, ****** friends, and oral sex? a deceased dog? the Chicago music scene? in under seven minutes. Beyond the first 3 songs, Liz is gleefully profane while speaking about the dynamic relationship between men and women in modern society. She pokes fun at the American man and his need to "save" women (Soap Star Joe), shows that women can be just as raunchy as men (Flower) and reveals the hidden resentment between two people at the end of a relation ship (Divorce Song).This album is a must listen for ANY fan of music.
And it will be even better if it's Hole next.
