I like them, but the show is better.
There are a lot of differences between the book and the show so it's almost two completely different things.

I'm currently reading the last of the entire series. It's bittersweet.

The Hunters: Phantom - 2011
The Hunters: Moonsong - 2012
The Hunters: Destiny Rising - 2012

I gave the years of publication so you can see the jump. There was a ghost writer for The Hunters trilogy.

No haven't seen True Blood or read the series. Vampire Diaries and Twilight are pretty much the only vampire series I've seen and read
