It seems like most Youtube videos I try embed just come up with a white screen (and so I have to just post the link instead of embed it)

Is this a problem on my end or with the video?

Might be on your end. Sometimes I've noticed the code cuts off a letter and keeps the = from the link

it is possible your URLs start with https instead of http, then it won't work.

a way that will always work is by only copy pasting the unique code of each video.
for example:
http://www.YouTube.com/watch.PHP?v=1337atrl
there 1337atrl would be the code to copy paste. that always works.

Main reason for that is when you opened that specific video from a special link or from "related", so it will have extra text in the link which makes the ATRL embedding code confused and crop the wrong part. If that happens, you just need to copy the code manually most of the time. Or try to find the original video link and then embed it.

I found out that the videos I was trying to embed had "https" in the beginning so when I changed it to "http" it worked, so I guess that special link was messing up the code.
