It was though. The only country song by a female to spend 2 weeks at the top of the country airplay charts this year.
And it's still selling, 2 million soon.
To answer the question: it would be more successful, as Taylor would release it to pop. No idea how it would sound, though.
Although, if it didn't crossover, Carrie's would probably be more successful. I mean, Begin Again isn't a crossover hit and it isn't really selling much.

Maybe a bit more successful but I don't think country radio would've used tbh.
As least not as much as with Carrie.

sdfdslf, when I saw the thread title I thought it was gonna be a live performance of Taylor covering this song. I was SO ready to get my life from her reaching for dear life with those vocals.
Anyways, the song would have been more successful. I was a little disappointed with how the song ended up performing on the charts. A 2 million seller is nice and all, but I expected more and I think Taylor's power could have given it the proper push to be a full crossover smash.

Had it spent just one more day at #1 on Mediabase and it would have spent 3 weeks at #1.
It was actually pretty sucessful. More sucessful than Good Girl and all singles of Play On. Going 2x platinum really soon.

It just shows how Taylor's country singles are not doing very well compared to her pop ones (WANEGBT, IKYWT).

But people wouldn't take her seriously so it would flop really hard. She just doesn't have the vocals to sing Blown Away and her image doesn't help either. It would be a real joke.
"Oh, but she can make it her own. " This song is meant to be sung dramatically and with powerful vocals... just saying.

But pop songs dominate the music industry, so it would only make sense tbh

But Begin Again is just one underperforming single.
Teardrops, Our Song, Love Story, YBWM and Mine are all multi-platinum and Mean will also reach 2xplatinum soon
Begin Again just entered the Top 10 and will end up reaching Platinum

Yes, but when you have several country singles selling Platinum and some selling 2x platinum (it's way more common now), when a singer like Taylor Swift releases a song to Country and sells like Sparks Fly (I don't think it went Platinum), you can't help but feel disappointed because you know she could have done way better.

But those all had pop support. He meant singles with country-support only, like Sparks Fly. It didn't sell much, but went #1. I don't remember which singles were released solely to Country, but Mean actually sold pretty well. Glee and all the story behind the song probably helped.

"Tim McGraw" didn't have the Pop support yet it did well on radio. So, what I can grab from here is, if a song went #1 on radio chart, and the other music charts = successful? Doesn't matter if it doesn't sell bunch of copies? Good to know that we can buy foods with radio airplay, not money.

I'm actually confused, I don't exactly know what you're trying to say.
It went #6 on Country, that's good for a debut single, but nothing jaw-dropping, in my opinion.

Taylor Swift might get it played on Pop, but she wouldn't make it nearly as successful on country, she'd probably flop miserably like WANEGBT and Begin Again.
Also lets be real here, Taylor would probably destroy the lack of vocals she already has if she even tried to sing, stop living in a fantasy.

Glee didn't help Mean much, award shows did and every other artist does that.
Ours did extremely well on Country! Everyone loved it. And it sold good for a 6th single.
