Swift, who shattered a 48-year-old record for females when “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” topped Hot Country Songs for nine weeks , ended 2012 at No.1 on Country Digital Songs. The song was the beneficiary of heav y streaming, millions of downloads and massive pop airplay—it put together all of the pieces in the puzzle except country radio, never surpassing its No. 13 peak on Country Airplay.
Taylor Swift has the No. 1 favorite song with “Begin Again,” which occupies No. 4 overall. Younger adults
18-34 place it at No. 1 positive and favorite. Females grade it No. 1 favorite and No. 4 overall, while 18-34 females kick it to No. 1 favorite and No. 2 positive. Adult males 25-44 are at No. 6 and No. 4 favorite.
Country Radio has always been a messed up system. They even blocked Johnny Cash. What to expect from a system who didn't appreciate one of it's biggest/finest stars, the ones who shaped the genre, in the past?
