ALBUM REVIEW:
Supporters of Carly Rae Jepsen will definitely rejoice for this update as your princess lands on the fifth spot of my list with her latest record for Kiss. To start the album review, I would like everyone know that I have come to admire Carly Rae this year that's why she is charting this high. Kiss is a collection of refreshing tunes focused on disco pop, dance pop and teen pop genres. Tiny Little Bows opens the record on a sticky-sweet affection. This Kiss has this 80's vibe on which Carly sings about can't help resisting her crush's kiss. I really felt bad this one just flopped miserably. The next track is obviously the biggest hit of 2012 Call Me Maybe. I won't go to any details for this one as we all have different points with regards to its sucess. Curiosity is another bubblegum crowd-pleaser but with less punch compared to the first three tracks. The summer soundtrack Good Time is another standout from the album as Carly teams up with Owl City in erasing the one-hit wonder status. The simple yet irresistible More Than A Memory comes next while Carly sings about kiss on the phone and breaking up to her guy on Turn Me Up. Carly declares to a platonic friend about having a huge crush on Hurt So Good while she shows her mellow side alongside Justin Bieber on Beautiful. She then plans to dance away the heartbreak on Tonight I'm Getting Over You as the mood shifts on a playful mood on Guitar String / Wedding Ring as Carly sings about wearing a piece of guitar string just like a wedding ring. Your Heart Is A Muscle closes the record with a hushed emotion together with an interesting lyrical approach. Kiss overall is fun album listen to. I can definitely recommend this when you want to listen to music together with your common friends. The album may have its standouts and so-so tracks yet it still blends well to create a refreshing collection of fun pop.

ALBUM REVIEW:
We are finally getting closer in ending my albums list for this year and up next is one of the pop rock bands that had a successful year with their singles; I'm talking about no other than Maroon 5 and their latest record called Overexposed. It's no denying their first two singles were huge hits everywhere. First of them is One More Night where it took me a long time to appreciate. Adam Levine sings about a bad influence he can't seem to shake on this faintly reggae-tinged track. Payphone, the lead single which everyone is so familiar with, focuses on the topic of heartbreak as Adam teams up with Wiz Khalifa for this hit. Wiz' part is not necessarily important by the way. Confirmed third single of the album Daylight is waiting in the wings to follow the success of its predecessors while the upbeat, groovy track Lucky Strike makes you wanna dance as Adam registers some falsettos here. Adam finds himself once more in a relationship trouble, this time playing the role of a good guy on The Man Who Never Lied while he shows on being hollow on the track Love Somebody. Ladykiller is a funky track that tells the tale of a femme fatale while Fortune Teller is a pop tempo track as Adam proclaims that he cannot predict the future. The ballad Sad is next and this one discusses about the regrets of being selfish while Tickets is about someone being a snob. The record moves to the funky, high-energy and beat-driven song for Doin' Dirt while Beautiful Goodbye is a just perfect album closer. Absolutely one of my favorites as this one is such a radio friendly hit and it should definitely be released as a single. Upon reading different points of view regarding Overexposed, I see that most were disappointed with the new sound Maroon 5 has released. I see this one as a risky yet remarkable step for them. Just look on what they've attained so far this year; Overexposed peaked at the top spot while their singles were just phenomenal. Maroon 5 is definitely here to stay and I myself became more interested with their music. With the success of Overexposed, I'll definitely anticipate the release of their next record.
