This. I'm almost sure it will be something like what you just mentioned. No one but her fans are here for a $10+ app so it would seem good to give the app for free and make buying the album an option inside, with free news and promos for everyone else that doesnt want the album.

I think she won't put buying the album option in the app, that would make controlling the sales much more difficult.

That seems like a really plausible idea, although she could do a normal release for the album and use the app to release the videos and some unreleased material that didn't make it into ARTPOP.

How is it going to count for billboard from the app? I don't think that's necessarily a good idea. It should be for streaming purposes to give her a boost on the charts (for the streaming percentage). Giving the app/album for free (only through the app) is a nice thing. We'll see what happens though.
