The voice isn't about the strongest voice. It's about the most likable, enjoyable voice. There's a reason why artists like Melanie and dia frampton art so far in the competition even though tons of powerhouse vocals lost before them. It's not just about power but uniqueness and likability. Xtina has a truly powerful voice but some songs she chooses to sing or how she chooses to sing a song can be dreadful even though she has a powerful voice and can use it well.

Melanie's not even as good of a singer as Dia Frampton or Lindsey Pavao though...

They at least had a little strength to back up their "interesting" tones. Anytime Melanie tries to "go for it," she's always flat. That's really my main complaint with her... cuz believe me, I was a Dia stan.

Why is everyone here saying Amanda needs to go? Are y'all serious? She was phenomenal tonight. Her stage presence and absolute dedication to the vocals and overall performance is just outstanding and unmatched by the lessors.

I agree with that. I'm just more disagreeing with the other poster complaining about her and saying it's the voice not the artist when the voice doesn't only include powerful singers but unique likable ones as well.

No one is saying she NEEDS to go. I would prefer to see her in the finals. I just think it's very likely that she will be going home. She didn't have any big moments for herself, and will likely get lost in the shuffle tonight.

Yes, it did serve a purpose as it was constructive, and I definitely hope if Melanie makes it she gets to do a Fiona Apple song next week, but Christina has treated both Melanie and Amanda poorly in their critiques recently.

She comes off really rude and snobby to me when speaking to them and even if she isn't trying to do so, she just rubs me the wrong way when she talks to them.

Ya'll are doing too much to Xtina'a critique on Melanie's second song. I thought her advice was very good. And plus, I'm pretty sure a choir teacher would have done something similar to what she did. She's there to be a coach, which is similar to being a choir teacher, and their are choir teachers, including the one that taught me how to sing in High School, that demonstrate certain notes by singing it to the contestant themselves. Some people need VISUALS to learn people!
