Yep !! that would ve been better for her country image but I m starting to wonder, did she really have a country image / fans ? I mean at this point, Red outsold her first 3 albums without the country support, just a question ?! Imagine if Carrie did the same, I m sure she will flop like Bionic, the same with any country artist out there !!! but with Taylor, the impact is dismal sales - wise... yes Begin Again struggles actually but it doesn t mean she lost her star power, she s even bigger now, as I said before, I think Taylor didn t have real country fans, her audiences weren t country listeners before.

But that would have looked bad too and she would have had to split her attention to two singles for the album promo and both songs would have suffered. And then there would be the competition with WANEGBT is selling more than BA etc. etc. etc or one song gets favored over the other. One song that would have served both formats would have been the best option, which is what they were going for, but had an epic fail. They probably expected it to last through at least the middle of October on both formats so they could release Begin Again just before the CMAs and IKYWT for the AMAs. Come back to the states and then promote both. I just don't think having to really promote a 2nd single during the middle of the whirlwind album promotion was in their plans.

True its not ideal but I can't see them not releasing WANEGBT now that the results have spoken. Maybe just WANEGBT for a WW single and Red as the U.S. single but looking at what it did WW tells me it was the right single even though it might not be my favorite song and might have hurt her country fanbase.

She could have released it 2nd though and it would have had similar results. Not as big though, but it wouldn't have hurt her country base or people's opinion of her which is the biggest problem WANEGBT creates. They never should have sent WANEGBT to country if she wanted to maintain a base there, which she clearly does. Red probably could have been huge on both country and pop (with the right promotion/remix for pop ofc ) and she's never had a song peak on both those formats at the same time so it might have been REALLY big which could have carried over globally and she would have done that and maintained her sound (which another problem with WANEGBT it's totally devoid of anything Taylor Swift so it's not really her that's selling it's.... that song). And then come at them with the Max Martin songs. It might not have been as big but they could have still had success. They got greedy though and it might hurt her in the long run. People don't want to admit it but Country is pretty integral to her success.
